Today is Good Friday. It's the day we silently remember what Christ did for us on the cross, how he fulfilled the Fathers plans to save mankind and offered Himself up until it was finished, tasting the essence of Hell in order to bridge the gap between us and the Father for eternity.
Today i read a story of an Iranian man who killed an 18 year old boy 7 years ago. He had gone before the Iranian justice system and had been given the death sentence. According to sharia law, a family member of the murdered can assist in the hanging by pushing the chair out from underneath the murderer and initiate the final breaths.
But something amazing happened when this mother got up to the platform. She slapped the murderer across the face, and then proceeded to allow her husband to untie the noose from his neck. She stated boldly that she had "forgiven him".
What wondrous love is this? Though this lady be of Muslim faith, she has the heart of a Christian and exemplifies the teachings of Christ when he taught us to love and forgive one another.
How fitting that this should take place on Good Friday, that those who may read it, some of whom are not beleivers, this family included, may come to know the Lord soon.
"Love is Patient. Love is Kind."
